Concrete Paint

brightening up the basement. Maybe you are
planning on selling your home and do not wish to
spend a ton on the basement. Basement wall paint
and basement floor paint will give you a quick and
inexpensive face-lift. However concrete paint does
virtually nothing towards waterproofing or radon
sealing. So if there is a problem with water
seepage you will want to address that concern first
or realize that the paint job is a very short-term
cover up. New concrete should be allowed to cure
for at least ninety days but one hundred and eighty
is better.

Basement floor paint can be used to put designs
on the floors. This maybe the answer if your
basement is mainly a utility space. Basement wall
paint does lighten the area and might be something
you wish to do while you are working on your do it
yourself renovation project. May be you will wish to
choose a theme and paint your basement in a
multitude of colours. Perhaps you could paint
patterns on the basement walls and floors and
keep it a fun project.  Concrete paint can be
purchased in oil based, latex or epoxy discuss with
the paint store employee which type of paint will
best suit your project and your skills.

Epoxy acrylic concrete floor paint is a
high-performance, water-based floor paint that
resists marring. This paint is very resistant to
chemicals as well as resisting scuffing, fading,
cracking, peeling; this greatly reduces the need for
maintenance of basement floors. New concrete
walls should be acid etched before painting.
Existing basement wall paint can be repainted
where the paint is sound. Any loose and peeling
paint should be scraped off. These bared areas
need to be acid etched or the paint is likely to not
adhere effectively. Acid etching is not difficult and
is safe if you follow the manufactures instructions
faithfully. Always wear rubber gloves, rubber boots
and safety goggles when mixing and or applying
the acid mixture. All cracked or chipped concrete
needs to be repaired before acid etching or
applying concrete paint.
